Eye Injuries Rising Among Pickleball Players - NYT

A recent study, published in the journal JAMA Ophthalmology, analyzed the number of eye injuries that brought pickleball players to hospital emergency rooms from 2005 to 2024. The study found that pickleball-related eye injuries have increased at an alarming rate over the past 4 years. This cross-sectional study found that the annual incidence of pickleball-related ocular injuries increased substantially from 2021 to 2024, with an estimated 1262 cases occurring in 2024 alone.

Help us help you get your gear back by putting your name and phone number on your paddle, water bottle and other gear. Luggage tags are a great way to identify the owner of pickleball nets and gear bags that are left behind.
